ARMS OF THE LIBRARY

READERS' SERVICES UNIT

This is the public relations unit of the Library. Responsibilities and duties include; registration of all eligible Library patrons (students and staff), takes care of all charging and discharging of Library books; shelving, and shelf reading of all books consulted. Keeping and maintaining all references and Audio Visual materials for all Library users on demand.

TECHNICAL SERVICES UNIT

The unit is responsible for the sourcing, acquiring, processing and maintaining all Library books as well as repairs of all defective library books and journals. It gives contribution to the National Union Catalogue of Nigeria. It generates computer work sheets for the ICT Department, production, filing and maintenance of catalogue cards.

INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT

The unit is in charge of computerization of all Library operations including managing all the computers on Local Area Network in the library. The Unit uses the Lib-Plus Library Software Package to carry out its functions. The unit oversees the E-Resource centre) at the Centre for Information Technology (C.I.T)

LIBRARY PROTOCOL

  1. Books must not to be taken out of the Library without the due process of charging.

  2. All books borrowed must be returned on or before the date due.

  3. Library identity cards are not transferable.

  4. All borrowings and renewals must be done in person.

  5. The Library identity card must be brought to the Library and produced on demand.

  6. Submit all books to the porter for inspection before or leaving the Library.

  7. Fines of N500.00 per day per any book overdue for return are charged.

  8. Books lost or damaged must be reported immediately and paid for at the estimated cost of replacement as will be determined by the Librarian.

  9. All cases of stealing, mutilation or defacing of books will be dealt with severely.

  10. All Library facilities must be treated with great care including reading tables and chairs.

  11. Seats should not be RESERVED in the library.

  12. Absolute silence must be observed in the Library at all times.

  13. Personal effects such as bags, briefcases, umbrellas, etc should not be brought into the Library. They must be kept in the pigeon holes provided for at owners risk.

  14. Smoking, drinking, eating and sleeping are prohibited in the library.

  15. Use of any form of naked light such as candles is an offence.

  16. All Library staff on duty must be treated with respect.

OPERATING HOURS

  • Monday - Friday 8.00 a.m. – 10.00 p.m. – during session

  • Saturdays 8.00 a.m. – 8.00 p.m.

  • Examination Periods 4.00 a.m. - 10.00 a.m. hours
